Things I have found around me!

The pipeliners job has landed us in a pretty neat place.  Right on the edge of an Amish community. What a great place to explore! The funny thing is my cousin taught school here years ago. I had been to visit with my parents, but don't remember the area at all.

The first thing I usually do to find out what is in the area is to buy a local paper. Luckly there is a visitors center in the nearby town. It is full of pamphlets and brochures on things to see and do.

They even had a map with the spots marked for you!

The first place that was recommended to us was the local bakery. It is located a mile or two out in the country. But well worth the drive if you didn't notice.

The bakery is in a grocery store where everything can be bought in bulk. Any size you want, they have it. At the back of the store is a free box. They give away many of the bags, jars and boxes that there items come in. I felt so lucky to come across this burlap bag that held rice.

I know the exact place I am going to put it in the farmhouse.

I have even come across some great auctions while we have been here.
Great find of pinecones for a buck.

These jars were packed in a cardboard box. All wrapped in towels and underwear!

A few weeks later, I came across this handmade box. My green canning jars will look great displayed in this!

This is just a few things I have discovered while we are staying here. I already took a truck load home when I went to visit my daughter for Thanksgiving!
I still have a few shops and stops that I havent hit yet.I plan on finding my way to them before we leave for good!

  1. Oh my gosh! You are in my neck of the woods. Go to Tuscola if you get a chance. There are a couple of really cute vintage stores and you could have lunch at the Candy Kitchen. BTW-Honored to be your first follower!

  3. Love your treasures. My family all love to shop in places in like the above. My brother and his wife just opened a new store that sells a lot of that stuff (especially the jars) and they have old furniture and Christmas decorations, etc. If you ever come to Ohio, let me know and I'll tell you where they are located.
