Timber

We had one main goal to accomplish over the long holiday weekend.

Take down the big pine tree at the farm.

The poor thing had so many broken, dead branches that would fall at all of the wrong times.
(walking under it was a hazard!)

The pipeliner said its time for that thing to  go!

We tied it off to the old Ford as a guide for where it should  fall.
Then the pipeliner fired up the chainsaw.

TIMBER!

It fell just where it was supposed to.

We spent the rest of Saturday night feeding branches into the yellow mulcher next to the tree.

I have a truck load of fresh mulch to last me the rest of the summer!

Then it rained, and rained. And rained some more!

We spent most of the rest of the weekend parked in these chairs watching the rain fall.

The only thing I got planted in the garden was a row of spinach.

One of us sure didn't mind the wet weather.

The Shaggy sure had a good time wading thru the rain!

Good thing she has an appointment at the groomers tomorrow!

Hope your weekend wasn't as soggy as mine!

Liz

  1. Same here only we didn't get anything planted in the garden as it was way too wet to go out side at all. Even the dogs didn't want to go out to "go". Glad the tree is down for you and free mulch is always good.

    1. Last year we were begging for rain at this time of year. Funny how Mother Nature works!

  2. The rain seems never ending and we have broken records here in central Illinois. Today was pretty decent but hot and muggy with more storms to come.

  4. We have some pines that are in bad shape and need to come down. You were lucky that you could do it yourself. Ours are too close to wires, etc. that we'd have to have professionals do it. Expensive!

    1. This tree had old electric lines wrapped in it from years ago. We had an estimate of 500.00 to cut it down. So glad we did it ourselves.

  5. We have a completely dead Aspen tree to take down this year. I fear just walking under it to the garden.
