I am pretty sure the old wives tale goes like this,
April showers bring May flowers.
But its not April,
its May!
And we have had day after day of showers!
My May flowers look like this,
With all of the rain it has been a challenge trying to mow.
There are puddles everywhere!
Look at all of the mud where our new grass should be growing.
Behind the mud is the garden waiting to be planted.
There is a row of potatoes that popped through over the weekend.
I started to dig and divide hostas before the gully washer arrived.
They will have to wait a little longer to find their new homes.
My Mothers Day basket seems to love all of the raindrops!
Look at tonights sunset!
That sure looks promising!
Red sky at night, sailors delight.
When we see a red sky at night, this means that the setting sun is sending its light through a high concentration of dust particles. This usually indicates high pressure and stable air coming in from the west. Basically good weather will follow.
Lets hope this old wives tale holds true!
Liz
I am hoping for some sun tomorrow too - it's a little chilly, but I'm still ready to get back outside :-)
ReplyDeleteHa! I just told the beans today that May showers bring May flowers as the rain is never ending! And the forecast is calling for rain this whole weekend! Im with you...I'm ready to get more of my plants in!! Cant wait to garden along with you this season Liz! Happy growing! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to hear that there are showers of rain in May. Let us enjoy the climate!
ReplyDeleteThe rain showers have quickly filled the rain barrels! A nice supply for summer!
DeleteMud ... so difficult to garden in! We've had a cold & windy week, but the setting sun here told us the same as you ... 'sailors' delight'!! I hope things dry out enough to get the plants in soon!
ReplyDeleteWendy
The wind has dried things out quickly! But looks like another cold snap next week,
DeleteYou did a good job on sharing your April and May showers. I am sure you are looking forward to some warm sunny days. Just think how green everything will be, when the sun does arrive.
ReplyDeleteOh the yard has been a deep lush green the past week or so. By August it will all be a burnt brown.
DeleteI know ... waiting to plant myself. The weeds are loving this.
ReplyDeleteThose darn weeds seem to grow no matter the conditions! lol
DeleteBeautiful sunset photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They have been impressive lately!
