For my chicken loving friends

I just had to share this with all of my fellow chicken lovers out there.

While my little town was trying to fight a silica sand transfer facility,
another small town nearby was fighting chickens!

A few people wanted to be able to raise their own hens in town.
No roosters, just laying hens.

The war was on!

People had signs posted in their yards either for chickens or not.

These ran in the local paper.

They put it on the ballot for the town to vote.

This is a small town with less than 500 hundred people.

The chickens lost!

What is this world coming to?

  1. Our small town does allow chickens, but no roosters. I've toyed with the idea. I think I would love them in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. But not keen on going out into the cold to care for them in the Winter. Sorry that the chickens were not winner winners, chicken dinners. lol!
    hugs,
    Jann

    1. A lot of bigger communities near me allow chickens. Can't figure out why a small rural town would be so against a chicken.

  3. Oh my goodness! Children under 5 all over the world come in contact with live chickens. It is all a part of a bigger plan...to limit everything we do! We need LESS government control! Big brother DOESN'T know what is best for me! (Sorry for the rant...)

  5. All the more reason I would run out and raise a couple of chickens even if I didn't already have them. We are not allowed to raise them in our subdivision either but I have 30, our neighbor has a dozen or so, my other neighbor has two goats (also prohibited). So far no one has tried to stop us. Maybe my husband looks too scary??? LOL

    1. Thats what happened. A couple of people had them, for quite awhile I think, then somebody got mad, more at the person then the chickens. It went downhill from there. Poor chickens!
